Privacy Policy
- Your PDFs, photos, scans and the Word files made from them are processed on your device. The app does not upload them to a conversion server. Sharing, support attachments and system backups are explained below.
- There is no account, no advertising and no tracking across apps or websites.
- We use usage statistics and crash reports, associated with app or installation identifiers, to improve the app. We do not ask for your name or an account.
- Subscriptions are handled by Apple, with RevenueCat managing subscription status under an anonymous ID.
Who we are
PDF to Word – Plainleaf (“the app”) is developed by Yin Lv (“we”, “us”). For any privacy question or request, contact 4617666@gmail.com.
Your files
Conversion, text recognition (OCR) and page editing run entirely on your iPhone or iPad. The app works without an internet connection for conversion. During normal conversion, we do not receive your documents, photos, scans, passwords or the text inside them. If you choose to email us a support attachment, we receive that attachment as explained below.
- Photos: pictures you pick with the system photo picker are copied into the app. The app does not get access to the rest of your photo library.
- Camera: used only when you choose to scan pages. Scans stay inside the app.
- PDF passwords: kept in memory only while the app is running and never saved.
- Converted Word files are saved in the app’s folder, which you can also see in the Files app. They stay until you delete them, or until the automatic cleanup you can choose in Settings removes them.
If you export or share a file, the destination you choose handles that copy under its own policies. Depending on your device settings, app data may be included in Apple iCloud or computer backups. We do not operate a document backup service or have access to your Apple backups.
Data we collect
We collect the following data to operate and improve the app. We do not associate it with a name or email address, but app and installation identifiers can distinguish an installation or subscription. This data is pseudonymous, rather than guaranteed to be fully anonymous, and is not used by us for tracking across other companies’ apps or websites:
| Data | Purpose | Service |
|---|---|---|
| App usage events (for example: a conversion started or finished, which method was used, page-count ranges, whether the paywall was shown) | Analytics – to understand which features work and fix what doesn’t | Google Firebase Analytics |
| Crash reports and diagnostic data (device model, OS version, error codes) | App functionality – to find and fix crashes | Google Firebase Crashlytics |
| App-instance and installation identifiers generated by Firebase and Crashlytics | Analytics and diagnostics – to count installations and understand crashes | Google Firebase |
| Approximate region derived from your IP address | Analytics | Google Firebase Analytics |
| Purchase history (which subscription is active and when it renews or expires) linked to an anonymous app user ID | App functionality – to unlock subscriptions and restore purchases; analytics on subscription performance | RevenueCat |
Usage events never contain file names, file contents, page text or passwords.
Payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive your name, email address or payment details from Apple.
Problem reports by email
If you choose Report a Problem, the app opens an email draft in your own mail app. Nothing is sent unless you send it. The original file is attached only if you switch that option on. We receive your email address, message, diagnostic details included in the draft and any attachment you choose to send. We use them to answer you and fix the problem, and delete the attached file when the issue is resolved. Support correspondence may be retained as needed to handle follow-up requests.
Service providers
We use these services for analytics, diagnostics and purchases. Their processing is also subject to their applicable terms and privacy policies:
- Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics) – firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- RevenueCat – revenuecat.com/privacy
- Apple (App Store purchases) – apple.com/legal/privacy
Service providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Their applicable data-processing terms describe the safeguards used for international transfers.
We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising, and we do not use data brokers.
Data retention
Deleting a document or deleting the app removes its local copies. Copies exported, shared or included in system backups are managed separately by you and the relevant service. Firebase Crashlytics retains crash reports and associated identifiers for 90 days before beginning removal from its live and backup systems. Analytics data follows the retention settings of our Google Analytics property. Subscription records may be retained to provide entitlements, restore purchases and meet applicable legal obligations. Deleting the app does not automatically delete data already held by these providers or cancel an Apple subscription.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or California privacy law), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability. Because we do not maintain named user accounts, we may need additional information to locate relevant records; contact us and we will help with requests we can verify. Do not send document contents or passwords for a privacy request. Deleting the app stops future collection from that installation, but does not itself erase previously collected records. If you are in the EU or UK, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of a contract for subscription functionality, legitimate interests in operating and maintaining the app where permitted, and consent where required by applicable law. Any consent required for optional analytics must be obtained through the app; this policy itself is not a request for consent.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
